HotCity

In „HotCity“, an innovative bottom-up approach based on gamification will be used for the first time to derive meaningful data sets for energy space planning. Using the potential of industrial and commercial waste heat sources as an example, different data sources are collected in Vienna and Graz. The result of the project is a functional test whether gamification can be used to collect an up-to-date data set in a cost-efficient, fast and reliable way. The use of innovative technologies and methods such as Blockchain & Machine Learning for automated image analysis should motivate users, prevent cheating and ensure data protection.
The consortium behind „HotCity“ consists of different companies and research institutions led by the renowned AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology). AIT develops methods for analyzing the waste heat potentials and estimating their economic efficiency. Picapipe developed the gamification metrics and blockchain handling. Digital Sunray is responsible for the development of the users' app, and Graz Energy Agency contributes its expertise in the field of energy systems.
