The esports school league Floridsdorf was kicked was launched as pilot project of Picapipe together with the Bildungsdirektion Wien, Limesoda, Austrian Force and the Center for Applied Game Studies at Donau-University Krems. As part of the project, we were investigating how the pupils' enthusiasm for gaming and esports can be combined with their education. Thanks to the support of the district council and school administration, the school esports league was piloted together with 12 secondary schools and several youth centres in the district of Floridsdorf. At the first e-sports league in Austria, almost 300 students in 49 teams from Vienna Floridsdorf proved their gaming skills. The games played were "Rocket League", "Overcooked 2" and "FIFA 19". On 18.06.2019 the time had come - the best 4 teams competed in the grand final at the Marco Polo Youth Center! With about 120 guests on site, a total of about 30.500 spectators on Twitch (at peak 2500 at the same time), a colourful supporting programme and of course excitement until the end, the event was a great success.
